How FindMyPomade chooses products
A fixed rules engine compares what you tell the quiz with hairstyle requirements and recorded product attributes.
What enters a result
Your quiz answers form a hair profile. The fixed rules engine compares that profile with the hairstyle you choose. It first checks your reported length against the style's required length. If your hair is too short, it stops, returns a length warning and up to three alternative styles, and does not score products. Otherwise, it scores the same recorded fields, returns five ranked matches, and explains the main reason for each score.
| Hair profile | Curl pattern, porosity answer, strand diameter, density, roots, visible hair-loss pattern, and length. |
|---|---|
| Hairstyle | Compatibility with the chosen shape, required length, hold, and finish. |
| Product record | Hold, finish, formula type, reworkability, washout, volume effect, price band, and the recorded hairstyle tag. |
| Output | A length warning and alternative styles when hair is too short. Otherwise, five product scores, ranking reasons, and curl-pattern warnings. |
How the score is built
The engine adds up to 35 points for hold fit, up to 20 for finish fit, up to 25 for hair-profile fit, up to 10 for practical washout fit. Its current price-record check gives 9 points when a price band is recorded and 7 when it is missing. The current quiz does not ask for a budget, so those points do not represent a match to a budget answer. A recorded hairstyle tag adds 12 points. The engine caps the total at 100, then sorts products from highest to lowest score, with brand name breaking a tie.
The number is a profile-fit score from the fixed rules. It is not a hands-on performance rating, a product review score, or a prediction that the product will work for a certain percentage of people.
Where product facts come from
Product records use cited public sources such as manufacturer specifications. A manufacturer claim remains a manufacturer claim. Sourced specifications are not hands-on testing, and FindMyPomade does not describe them as direct experience.
Formulas, names, and availability can change. If you find a current source that conflicts with a record, use the public correction route.
Commercial separation
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Some marked Amazon links may pay a commission at no extra cost to you. A commission does not change the ranking, score, or recommendation reason. A product does not move up because a retailer or brand has a commercial relationship with the site.
What the result cannot tell you
The quiz cannot know how a scent, texture, or formula will feel on your hair. It cannot see application technique, local weather, an unrecorded reformulation, or how much product you use. Treat the result as a reasoned shortlist, then check the current label and decide whether the tradeoffs suit you.
